More 4th of July Festivities!

The 4th of July has been so awesome this year! The fire department lets off cannons every 4th at 6AM and I was actually awake (due to my terrible mosquito bites....I might just do a post about them because they are the worst I have ever had!) this year to hear them. Then we headed down to the park bright and early to run the Liberty 5k. Steve and I ran it last year and we didn't really train for it before hand. I think the furthest we had run was maybe a mile at the most? I don't know why I thought I could just go and run it and be fine, because 3.1 miles is far for somebody who never ever runs! ha! I made Steve run the whole race with me last year and it took us 37 minutes to finish it. So this year Steve wanted to see how fast he could run the race and I have been trying to loose weight, so we both actually started running like a month ago to train for the 5k. We did so much better this year! Steve finished the race in 22 minutes, and I finished it in 30 minutes. And I am happy to say that I think my body is starting to kind of get use to running:) Anybody who knows me very well, knows that I absolutely loathe running. Yes you heard me correctly, I don't just hate it, I loathe it! But yesterday at the 5k, I actually had fun running. I never thought I would be able to say that running could be fun, so this is a huge milestone for me! ha! After the 5k, we watched the parade on main street. The best part about the parade is all of the candy that my nieces and nephews get and then I get to steal it and eat it:) We went to the park after the parade just long enough to get some new sunglasses, and a snowcone. Then last night my brother Rob did some pretty sweet fireworks at my parents house and then we headed over to Steve's parents house to watch the city fireworks. Steve's sister Liz came home from the hospital last night with her new baby and that was probably the highlight of the night. I didn't even really want to watch the fireworks, because I just wanted to hold the baby all night long! haha she really is the cutest little baby and we are obsessed with her already!!

My niece Gilly rode on a truck with her gymnastics people in the parade. Rob told her to do a back flip off the wall when she got to where we were sitting, so here she is showing off for us.

Watching the parade:)

All of us who participated in the 5k. Eric, Heidi, me, Steve, Emily, Kelli, and Kirk. We all did pretty awesome I must say:) Happy 4th of July everybody! It sure has been an awesome weekend!
