My testimony on marriage

Sometimes I don't really speak my mind fully on my blog because I worry about offending someone or I worry too much what other people will think.............but let's face it, there are only like 2 people that even read my blog and they are both family members and I know this won't offend them. So, I'm going to share my feelings on a few things I have been thinking a lot about lately.

With last weekend being conference, and yesterday being Easter Sunday, I have had my testimony strengthened A LOT and I feel refreshed and feel full of joy and gratitude. There are a lot of things that I don't know, and a lot that I don't fully understand, but what I do know is that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true! Thomas S. Monson is truly a prophet of God and I know that he was called to that position in the church because he was foreordained for it, and because he is the man that God wants to lead His people in these latter days. I know that Gordon B. Hinckley was also a prophet of God and that his revelation on the proclamation to the family was truly inspired from God. I believe that it came about in 1995 because our Heavenly Father knew that the family was going to be targeted in the upcoming years with all kinds of different things like homosexuality and divorce, and He wanted to give us some warning, and a firm belief to live by. I know that God is the same yesterday, today, and always. Therefore, I don't believe that the family and the church's standpoint on the family is ever going to change. Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God. The only way to receive all the blessings of exaltation is, for a man and a woman to be sealed in a temple of God. This is what I believe and it is not going to change.

Last week I had a conversation with a co-worker about legalizing gay marriage and the church's standpoint on this issue. I got really worked up about this and decided to do a little research for myself so that I could find some answers and be more knowledgeable on the issue. A friend of mine posted an interview with Elder Dallin H. Oaks concerning the church's standpoint on homosexuality on his facebook today. This was exactly what I was looking for. I read through the article and I can honestly say that I agree with everything he said. Elder Dallin H. Oaks is an apostle of God. I sustain him as such, and I know that he like our prophet, is truly inspired by the spirit. They speak the words of God. I know that it is hard for some people, even members of the church, to agree with the church's standpoint on this issue, but I AGREE with it! I believe that ONLY marriage between a MAN and a WOMAN is ordained of God. I believe that our prophet and apostles are truly called of God, and I believe that the gospel of Jesus is Christ is perfect. I believe that the plan of salvation is perfect. I know that through the atonement of our Savior Jesus Christ, we can overcome anything! Whether that be drugs, alcohol, same gender attraction, or even murder. The atonement is real, and through the process of repentance, we can always come back to Christ:)
