Elvis 5k

I ran my first post baby race a couple of weeks ago.  And I know what you're all thinking.  Yes I had Ellie a long time ago, but sadly it's just too dang hot and humid to run consistently here.  I was doing really well and running during the springtime while the weather was still bearable, but as soon as June hit, I was toast!  The heat and humidity are just too much for me to handle, and I hate the treadmill.  I get bored very quickly on the treadmill.  So anyways, I was pretty much lazy all summer.  But my friend Lexi convinced me to run the Elvis 5k with her a couple of weeks ago and it was a blast!

We walked up to check out the house before we started the race. This is the closest I've ever been to actually going inside! I just can't bring myself to pay the money and go on a tour. I guess I'm just not a true Elvis fan;)

Elvis, his parents, and his grandmother are buried at Graceland.
Me, some Elvis wannabe, Lexi, and her husband Dan.

They do this race every year as part of Elvis week. Yes people, there is an Elvis Week every year at Graceland in August, and roughly 75,000 people flock to Memphis for it! Isn't that crazy? People really do love Elvis.  So we joined in on the fun this year and we had a blast!  Runners were dressed up as Elvis.  One guy even ran the whole race in blue suede shoes!  It was definitely not my fastest race.  It took me 34 minutes.  I was basically slower than cold tar, but I didn't have to stop and walk at all, so I was pretty proud of myself!  Steve says that next summer he even wants to do it AND he claims he will dress up like Elvis too! haha
