Yes it's true! I'm prego!!! Can you even believe it? Some days I'm still not sure that I believe that I'm actually growing a real human being inside of me right now! haha But it's true and I've got the pictures to prove it:) I've been dying to write this post for a long time, but Steve and I both wanted to wait until we knew the sex of the baby before we told everybody. So today was the day. We found out that we are having a BABY GIRL today!!! YAY! We both are WAY EXCITED!!! My doctor's office told me back in October that I wouldn't be able to have my ultrasound to find out the gender until I was at least 20 weeks, but I just couldn't wait that long. Luckily, there is a college in Memphis that has ultrasound students that need prego volunteer patients anywhere from 18-32 weeks prego to practice on. So, Steve and I went to the Baptist College of Health Sciences today and let not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 different students ultrasound my baby:) And I didn't mind one bit because well, I was an x-ray/nuc med student not so long ago and I had to practice on patients of my own. Plus we loved watching baby girl wiggle around in there for an hour and half straight!:)
This was my first ultrasound at my first doctor's appointment when I was 10 weeks on 10/3/12. It's crazy how much that baby has grown and developed since then from 10-18 weeks!
This is the between the legs gender reveal picture. We could see it a lot more clearly today on the screen at the school, but if you look close (and know what you are looking for) you can see her little lady parts.
This is my favorite little profile picture of her cute little face and her little hand waving in the air:)
She kept crossing her little legs at the ankles and I just thought this shot was so cute!
18 weeks-My first baby bump picture! I don't really have much of a baby bump yet, I pretty much just look like I've gained a lot of weight. I'm still in the, "Is she pregnant, or just getting fat?" stage. Hopefully some day soon my belly will actually start to poke out so that I don't just look fat anymore like I do right now haha!
Disclaimer-If you don't care about how we found out that I was prego, stop reading here. I'm going to write it all down though so that I have it for my own journal.
I stopped taking my birth control quite a few months ago, so it was no surprise by any means. I've never been more than 3 days late to start my period in my entire life, so when I was 5 days late AND my boobs were hurting REALLY bad, I started to think, ok maybe I'm prego. So I told Steve that we should probably go to Walgreens and buy a pregnancy test. The whole time we were at the store, we both kept reminding each other to not get our hopes up. We got home from Walgreens and I peed on the stick immediately. Three minutes later I picked up the stick and sure enough, it said PREGNANT! After I read it, the only thing I could say was Oh my gosh! Steve of course came right over to see what it said and he just kept saying no way! I think both of us were in shock and didn't really believe it at first, but we were also super excited instantly and couldn't stop smiling! It's weird how many emotions you can feel all at the same time. Steve immediately got on the computer and googled the accuracy of at home pregnancy tests haha. The rest of the day, both of us just kept saying to each other, do you think we are really having a baby? So 3 days later, I took a second pregnancy test and when that one said pregnant too, we decided ok maybe we really are having a baby?! We found out that I was prego on August 27th, the day after Steve's 25th birthday and we didn't tell a single person from our families until I was almost 13 weeks on 10/21! I have felt really good for the most part. The first few weeks, I was pretty nauseous throughout the day and I basically lived on crackers and cereal because it was the only thing that sounded good. I have not thrown up at all though, and the nausea went away at about 10 weeks so I'm not going to complain at all. My biggest complaint is that my boobs have gotten ginormous and I REALLY HATE them. I'm just praying that they go back to normal size once all of this is over and done with:) Both Steve and I are just so grateful that we are fertile and that we made a baby. So many couples are unable to have babies and I am more and more grateful each day for our fertility. I know it sounds strange, but truthfully, I am. And basically we just can't wait for May 1st, 2013 to get here so that we can meet our baby girl:)
We are so so happy for you guys! Being a parent is the greatest thing in the world. And as for the boob thing I hate to say they will get even bigger if you nurse. I don't know why anyone would want big boobs haha
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I can't wait to see more baby bump pics. We are so excited for you guys :) And, when my boobs hurt, I switched out my bras with new bras without any underwire and that seemed to help make it more bearable. Good luck! You will now know soon why I was hogging the open window in the winter cause I was so hot! No more laughing at me ;) Miss you guys toooons!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh! AJ and I are so excited for the both (well, all three) of you! I'm not sure how far away we are from your family (we are in Liberty, MO) but hopefully we can get to see you sometime! I am so glad to hear that you have been feeling pretty good, too! What a relief that is! Good luck with the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Those were the best for us because we could feel the baby move and the delivery date was in sight :)Keep in touch!
