For Thanksgiving this year, we drove to Texas and stayed with a family Steve taught while he was on his mission there. We've been wanting to take a trip to Texas ever since we moved to Memphis, so we were both really excited to go. Ellie did great in the car for the most part. She did start to get pretty upset about 30 minutes from home on the way back, but I don't blame her because I was so sick of being in the car too!! We drove down the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and it only took us 7.5 hours to get there. We stayed the whole time in Saginaw with Cliff and Michelle Humphries. Steve served for 9 months in Saginaw on his mission, so he was pretty excited to be there and show me around!
Thanksgiving dinner was delicious. I ate the best sweet potatoes I've ever had before. I didn't even really think I liked sweet potatoes very much before that!
After dinner we drove around and saw Steve's old area while Ellie napped in her carseat.
His old apartment. It was so weird to think he lived there for 9 months while he was a missionary. I just can't even remember life before marriage! haha
The grain silos right by his old apartment. He has been telling me how massive these things are for years!
Friday we spent the day in Downtown Fort Worth seeing a bunch of stuff that Steve never got to see while he was there on his mission.
We saw a bunch of cowboys and their horses which Ellie loved:)
Fort Worth is famous for being one of the oldest and largest Live Stock Exchanges in the country.
Longhorn cows. I thought they were pretty cool because we don't have these in Utah!
This cowboy was legit.:)
The cattle drive.
Can you tell how much she loved riding this thing?!
We even met Cowboy Santa, and Ellie loved him. She walked right up to him all by herself and sat on his lap!
Cliff, Michelle, and Gavin Humphries. Steve taught Cliff while he was on his mission, and then got to go to the temple with the Humphries when they were sealed. It was so much fun to meet them and get to spend time with them. We had a wonderful trip!
