We drove to Atlanta for spring break last week and we had a blast! It was only a 5 and 1/2 hour drive, so we got up early Thursday morning and left right before 7am so that we could get there and have some time to see some sights that afternoon. Ellie surprised us and traveled really well. She slept for about 2 hours of the drive, and we were able to keep her entertained with movies on the ipad and food the rest of the time! We made great time and only stopped once for a bathroom break and to stretch our legs. The of course we got stuck in traffic for an hour and a half on the freeway only 10 miles outside of Atlanta. I mean seriously? Does anyone else have this kind of luck? Steve and I are convinced its just us!;) We made it though and we headed over to the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic site.
Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife are buried here.
Martin Luther King Jr. was born in this house and lived here until he was 12 years old.
Once we were done seeing the MLK sites, we went to dinner at this upscale restaurant Murphy's. Only we didn't know that it was upscale until they sat us at our table and looked us like we were crazy when we said that we didn't want to order any wine. We ordered a couple of burgers for $12 a piece because that was the cheapest thing on the menu, and then got the heck out of there. I read some reviews about that place afterwards, and apparently most people go there to drink wine, hence the reason they thought we were crazy when we didn't order any. Oops! We were laughing about it all night!
Friday morning we went to the aquarium. Ellie loved it! She kept pointing at everything she saw and saying "sat, sat?"(what's that), and she was squealing throughout most of the dolphin show. Of course we weren't allowed to take pictures during the dolphin show, which was so lame because we loved the dolphin show! If I actually knew how to swim, it would be my dream job to train and swim with dolphins:)

"Sat?"
This little cheese ball crinkles up her nose, and squints her eyes every time we tell her to smile.
We grabbed some lunch after we left the aquarium, and then headed to Coke World.
They took us inside this vault where the secret recipe to make coke is......we thought it was kind of lame.
Ellie was excited about it though! haha
After we finished touring the joint, we got to taste all of the coke products from all of the world. It was pretty cool! My favorites were the really sweet ones from South Africa I think.
After Coke World the weather was beautiful and warm, so we played at the Olympic Park for a while before heading back to our hotel.
Steve thought this sign was funny:)
You can't tell from this picture, but Ellie loved this slide. She would squeal every time we took her down it!
Saturday, Steve went to an Optometry Conference for a few hours so we didn't have a ton of time to do stuff that day. We did see Turner Field where the Braves play and it was pretty cool. I just wish their season would have started already so that we could have gone to a game while we were in town.
We drove out to see the temple that day as well while Ellie took a nap in the car. It was beautiful and I wish that we could have gone on a session while we were there so that we could have gone inside.
The flowers were beautiful and it made me wish that Spring would be here to stay.
We took Ellie swimming Saturday night and I could have eaten her up because she looked so dang cute in her little swimming suit!
We were all kinds of excited, until we actually got in the pool.........
Naturally Ellie hated it. We were so sad that she hated it. Hopefully she will learn to like it though because I plan on taking her swimming almost every day this summer in order to survive the humidity!
We drove home Sunday morning and I'm sad that our break is over. We had a lot of fun in Atlanta though and I hope that we can go back sometime and go to a Braves' game!
